Ultimate Guide to the CaloriTrack Nutrition Module

What is this section for?

The Nutrition module is the metabolic heart and main command center of CaloriTrack, meticulously designed to transform food logging into a smart, guided, and frictionless experience. Its purpose is to empower the user by giving them absolute control over their daily intake, going far beyond simple calorie counting.

This section works as a digital pocket nutritionist: it allows you to manage personalized meal plans, evaluate the exact balance of macronutrients in real-time, ensure the intake of vital micronutrients, and monitor antinutrient limits. In short, it is the ultimate tool to plan, log, and audit every aspect of your daily nutrition, ensuring you reach your health goals (lose, maintain, or gain weight) with precise data, reliable databases, and a highly visual and intuitive interface.

📅 1. Main Navigation and Calendar

Upon entering the Nutrition tab (identified by the fork and knife icon), the header offers total control of your timeline:

  • Swipeable Weekly Calendar: At the top, you will find a horizontal date carousel.
  • Date Selection: You can swipe left or right to travel in time, reviewing past days or planning future ones.
  • Logging Indicators: Days that already contain logged foods will show a small colored indicator dot (Mint Green for past/today, or Sky Blue for future days) below the number.
  • Haptic Feedback: Tapping any day generates a slight tactile vibration to confirm the selection.

📋 2. Your Meal Plan (Management and Wizard)

Just below the calendar is the Plans section, which is highly dynamic:

If you don't have an active plan

  • You will see an attractive card ("Discover your Ideal Plan").
  • Tapping it will open the 5-step wizard.
  • Steps 1 to 4: You will configure your goal (lose, maintain, or gain weight), physical activity level, dietary restrictions (dairy-free, gluten-free, etc.), and your diet philosophy (Keto, Vegan, Paleo, etc.).
  • Step 5: The system will recommend the perfect plans from the catalog for you to activate.

If you have an active plan

You will see a swipeable two-page card:

  • Page 1: Shows your plan's name, an icon representing your goal (e.g., down arrow for weight loss), and a progress bar indicating what day of the plan you are on.
  • Page 2: If you swipe, you will see the exact calorie and macronutrient goals that plan requires.

Plan Management

Tapping the "Manage" button opens a full panel:

  • Grocery List: You can see the necessary ingredients per week, organized by category, and even select ingredients to export or share as text.
  • Weekly Menu: Opens the generated menu to see what dishes you have scheduled each day. Tapping a dish will show its detailed recipe.
  • Change or Cancel: You have dedicated buttons to abandon the current plan and start a new one.

📊 3. Daily Summary Cards (Paginator)

The control center for your intake. Swipe horizontally to toggle between three critical views of your daily data:

Card 1: Macros Summary

  • Shows your total calorie consumption on the left with a gradient-colored progress ring.
  • On the right, you will see individual progress bars for your Proteins (Blue), Fats (Golden Yellow), and Carbs (Green).
  • Tapping this card takes you to the Daily Progress, where you can see a bar chart summarizing your entire week.
  • Tapping the "info" button opens the nutrition summary tooltip, which explains CaloriTrack's nutrition philosophy.

Card 2: Micronutrients

  • Gives you a quick glance at 5 essential minerals and vitamins: Potassium, Sodium, Vitamin D, Iron, and Zinc.
  • Tapping the card opens the detailed view, where you can review dozens of vitamins and minerals, filter them by "Completed" or "Missing", and see your weekly averages.

Card 3: Antinutrients

  • An advanced metric that monitors compounds like Oxalates, Phytic Acid, and Lectins.
  • Unlike nutrients (where you want to reach the goal), antinutrients use reverse bars: they will turn orange or red if you exceed healthy limits.
  • Entering the detail view allows you to see your weekly history and read the app's scientific blog to understand their impact.

🍎 4. The Diary: Food Logging and Management

This is the area where your entered foods appear.

  • Custom Organization: At the end of the list, a button ("Adjust meals") lets you choose how many meal blocks you want to see in your day: 4 (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Snack), 3, 2, or a single meal if you practice OMAD.
  • Meal Header: Shows the name (e.g., "Breakfast") with its emoji and the total calories for that block.
    • On the right, it has an Options menu (three dots). It's a super-fast tool that allows you to: "Copy from yesterday", "Copy to yesterday", "Copy to tomorrow", or "Edit/Delete".
  • Food Display:
    • Individual Foods:* You will see the name, grams/portions, and exact calories.
    • Dishes: If you logged a complete dish, you will see the main name and a dropdown button. Tapping it expands to reveal all the individual ingredients that make it up.
  • Certifications: Foods have trust icons: A seal indicates the information was verified by CaloriTrack, and a globe indicates it comes from public databases like the USDA.
  • Edit and Delete: Tapping a food takes you to the screen to edit its quantity or move it to another meal. You can also swipe or long-press to delete it.

🔘 5. The Floating Button (Search and Catalog)

To add new foods, the system uses a floating button in the bottom right corner so it's always accessible. It contains two shortcuts:

Dish Catalog (Book Icon)

  • Opens the beautiful visual gallery featuring our curated recipes.
  • You can filter the gallery by diet type using the top buttons (e.g., "Ketogenic", "Vegan").
  • Tapping a dish lets you see its full-screen photo, ingredients, and a massive nutritional summary before confirming if you want to add it to your log.

Smart Search ("+" Icon)

  • Opens the super search bar.
  • Text Search: Search live in the CaloriTrack and USDA databases.
  • Barcode Scanner: An icon next to the search bar opens your camera to scan physical products.
  • Recent History: If the search bar is empty, it will show your "Recent Foods" for one-tap logging.
  • Create Private Food: If you can't find something, you can tap the "Create private food" button (when the search shows "No results") to open the form and permanently save the nutritional facts of your own product.
