Frequently asked questions about Fasting

How do I start my fasting timer?

It's very simple! When you enter the Fasting tab (the clock icon in the bottom menu), you will see a large central circle with your hour goal. Simply adjust the hours by sliding your finger along the edge of the circle and press the large button that says "Start Fasting" at the bottom.

I forgot to tap "Start" when I finished eating. Can I change the start time?

Yes, of course! Don't worry if you missed the exact time. Once you have started your fast in the app, you will see a text below the circle that says "Fast started" with the current time. Tap the pencil icon next to that time, and you can retroactively select the exact date and time you actually began your fast.

How do I stop my fast if I'm ready to eat?

When you are ready to break your fast, go to the main view and tap the gold button that says "End Fasting". The app will record the total time you achieved, update your stats, and show you a congratulatory screen with your new streak.

I ended my fast early, does it still save?

The application is designed to help you build habits. If you stop your fast before reaching your goal, the record will only be saved in your history if more than 10 seconds have passed. This prevents accidental taps from being saved. However, remember that to maintain your "Streak," it is best to reach the goal you set for yourself.

🎯 Custom Goals and Preferences

How do I change my hour goal while fasting?

If you are already in the middle of a fast and decide you want to lengthen or shorten it, simply place your finger on the "dot" (indicator) on the edge of the circle and slide it. You will see the hour goal update in real-time. You will also see that the time your "Fast ends" adjusts automatically at the bottom.

I want to do an extended fast, what is the hour limit in the app?

Our app supports everything from classic intermittent fasts (12 or 16 hours) to extended fasts. You can spin the circle to set a goal of up to 96 hours.

Do I have to set my hours every time I start a fast?

It is not necessary. If you have a fixed protocol (e.g., 16 hours every day), you can tap the settings icon (the three lines with sliders) in the upper left corner of the Fasting screen. There you can define:

  • Your default hour goal (e.g., 16 hours).
  • Your usual start time (e.g., 8:00 PM).
  • Your calculated end time (e.g., 12:00 PM).

Once saved, every time you open the app, your circle will already be set to that goal.

🎨 The Progress Circle and Colors

Why does the elapsed time text change color?

The color of your fasting time is a visual indicator of the metabolic phase you are currently in:

  • 🟧 Soft Orange (0 to 12 hours): Your body is processing your last meal and using glycogen.
  • 🟩 Mint Green (12 to 16 hours): Fat burning and early ketosis begin.
  • 🟦 Sky Blue (16 to 20 hours): Fat burning increases, and autophagy may start.
  • 🟪 Purple (Over 20 hours): Deep autophagy phase and maximum cellular repair.

I met my hour goal, but the timer keeps counting. What does the "+" sign mean?

When you reach your goal (the circle fills completely), the app does not automatically stop you, as you might decide to keep going a little longer. From that moment on, you will see the text change to "Time exceeded" and it will show you a timer with a "+" sign (e.g., +45 m or +2 h). This indicates exactly how much extra time you achieved beyond your original target.

📚 Learning and Guides

I'm new to intermittent fasting. Do you have tips to get started?

Absolutely! If you haven't started your fast yet, you will see a button with a question mark (?) at the bottom. Tapping it will open the "Quick Guide for Beginners", where you will learn about hydration, what breaks a fast, how to manage hunger, and what to eat when you finish.

While fasting, I want to know what is happening to my body.

In the top right corner of the main screen, you will see a button with an "i" (Information). Tap there to open the "Fasting Benefits" section. It will show you a detailed timeline (from 0 to 96 hours) explaining how your body behaves at each stage (fat burning, ketosis, autophagy, etc.).

📊 History and Statistics

Where can I see how many consecutive days I've fasted?

Tap the stats card that appears just below the progress circle on the main view. This will take you to the Fasting Stats screen. There you will see your "Current streak" (consecutive days meeting your goal) and your "Longest historical streak".

What other metrics can I see in the statistics section?

Within your stats, you can view:

  • Your current streak and historical record.
  • The longest fast you have achieved.
  • Your average hours per fast.
  • The total number of fasts completed.
  • An interactive bar chart that you can filter by Week, Month, or Year.

I ended my fast yesterday, but I forgot to tap "End" in the app and it saved way too many hours. Can I fix it?

Yes! Go to the Stats screen and scroll down to the "Full Log" section. Find the fast you want to correct, long-press on it, and select "Edit". You will be able to manually adjust the exact date and time you ended it.

Can I keep a journal of how I felt during each fast?

Of course. In the same "Edit" option mentioned above, you will find a text box for "Personal Notes". You can use it to write down if you had high energy, felt hungry, or what you ate to break your fast.

What does the "People fasting right now" box in my stats mean?

It is a global summary that shows you how many CaloriTrack community members are in the middle of a fast right at this very moment. You are never alone on your journey to wellness!

📲 Sharing Your Achievements

I'm halfway through my fast and want to share my progress. Is it possible?

Yes! While your fast is in progress, you will see a button with a share icon (a box with an upward arrow) in the bottom left of the screen. Tapping it will generate an elegant image showing how much time you have left and your current goal. You can choose different background colors and share it directly on your social networks or via message.

I completed my 24-hour fast! How do I show it off?

When you press "End Fasting", a congratulatory screen will appear with a summary of your streak and time achieved. On that same screen, you will see the "Share your achievement" button. You can customize the "Fast Completed" commemorative image and send it to your friends to inspire them to join you.
